- The clientele is diverse and polite.
I loved everything about it! Went inside to get information about the membership. The guy (I can't remember his name) was extremely helpful/generous. He showed me around and informed me about their amenities.
- If equipment has small things wrong (the handle is broken, the padding is missing, etc)...Just get used to it. I have not seen them fix anything since I have been there.
- 12 Month Contracts (unless you pay in full or a high monthly fee)
Needs new equipment. Not happy with the extra yearly fee.
- No high pressure sales tactics
- Truly 24/7 Entry (Staffed during peak hours)
Pros and Cons for sure.
CONS:
- The size of the gym is awesome (Even during peak times, I can always find something within my plan to do. I don't do much cardio, but their machines are never even close to full).
- No one that works here or works out here cleans up much. If you leave a towel or bottle on the gym floor, it will be there for days. I rarely see gym members clean the equipment after use. *They do have someone do minimal cleaning of the bathrooms and gym floor, but I mean minimal.
PROS:
- The tanning is a nice perk (for an extra $20 a month), but the beds and bulbs are old. The fans don't work (they have floor fans), and the bulbs have not been changed or the beds cleaned (under the acrylic). I have to tan twice as much just to keep a base.
- There aren't showers in the locker rooms (I would like the option, but with the way they maintain the gym, maybe it's for the better).
Great 24hr gym, they have all the machines and free weights you need. Their cardio machines are top of the line but they also carry old-school treadmills if you don't like all those new features on the newer ones. Day care center is convenient and they have kids activities like yoga so healthy too! All in all good gym.
- They often have free classes and bootcamps included in your memmbership (I haven't done any, so I can't speak on them).
- The cost ($39 a month or so) is a decent value if you go to the gym more than once a week.
They do not honor the 7 day pass as shown online. The machines were in good shape, nothing broken, just a few that were a little hard to adjust. The group fitness room is alright for a 24 hr facility....I was surprised they had smart bars! But the floor was awful...very slippery. The staff could have been a little more helpful (most places give you a tour and show you around instead of just pointing) I would go back, for the simple fact that they offer Les Mills classes
- Child care (during certain hours)
- The staff is very friendly.
There isn't a lot of competition in Goldboro (smaller facilities, the gym on the Air Force Base, Crossfit, or the YMCA), but I think even if a budget gym like Planet Fitness came to the area, it could impact membership here.
- The variety of equipment is nice.
- Parking isn't crazy like some gyms I have been to.
- Tanning (see cons list, though)
I originally started at the Clayton location and was happy to be able to use this facility after I moved to Goldsboro. The Clayton location was a tad cleaner, but the Gold's Gyms I have been to before are normally maintained better.
- The division of the weight room, machines, cardio, and classes makes it more comfortable for all fitness levels.
