My move was scheduled for 9am on Sunday (I was glad they worked on Sunday, because I was moving from a downtown loft where access to the loading dock/alley is difficult during the week.
Unloading only took a couple of hours (they had a supervisor come watch them, and things sped up quite a bit upon his arrival).
After another 10 minutes, they accessed my loading area, with room to spare, It was 9:56am. The driver was smoking a cigarette, which he threw at my doorstep before entering.
After several minutes, I jogged around the block and spotted a moving truck three blocks away, parked at the post office. Thinking this could be them (it was just an unmarked white truck), I ran a few blocks and asked the driver if he was here for a move. The other mover had his head down in the seat. I'm not sure what they were up to, but it appeared I had startled them (They were not on the phone, and the vehicle was off). Finally, I directed them to my apartment and how to get to the loading area. They said they would be right there.
They were unable to get a large piece upstairs, and after 20 minutes of trying, said that it was impossible. We just asked them to leave it downstairs (After they left, we got it upstairs in less than 10 minutes). During this time, they scuffed up my wall, which I did not notice until they left. They could have at least told me (The walls were just painted, so this is the only way it could have happened).
The older gentleman constantly yelled at the younger one saying "Watch where you are going", "You can carry more than that", etc. It was very uncomfortable. Every time I would take something to my car or walk away, I would come back to at least one of them smoking, standing, or arguing.
Another 15 minutes passed before they pulled up, and then they noted that they would not be able to get into the alley. I advised them that I rented a 26ft moving truck to move here, and I was able to access the alley without issue, with no experience (Their truck appeared to be the same size).
Amazing moving company!!! Will always use when I need to move. Over and Beyond best customer service, hardworking, honest, helpful , awesome pricing and the list could go on. Very impressed!! If you were considering moving and need a moving company you found the best company to call.
Calling the company to get a quote was very easy and the company was very responsive via email when I had questions (hence the two star rating vs one).
Since they were getting paid $125/hour, I wanted to get this done ASAP. When we got to the new house, I told them to take one bedroom set upstairs, set up the dining table, and leave all the other boxes at the entry, so that we could be done quickly.
Wow, I was thoroughly impressed with Harvey's Moving Company LLC.! Bobby and his crew were extremely professional, efficient, and had stellar customer service. They went above and beyond to make sure all my moving needs were met. The crew arrived early and did not stop working until the job was completed. They were extremely careful with all my belongings and made sure that they were packed correctly for my long journey. It was a pleasure working with them, they really made me feel like a valued customer and I cannot thank them enough for making my move much smoother. I HIGHLY recommend them for any and all moving needs!
First I was nervous by the price but the gentleman that surveyed my belongings assured me that they will handle with the best care. I initially declined the service. But to my surprise, he was still offering advise for my move. This he did not have to do but showed real care in doing so. I changed my mind and went with Harveys Moving Company. Glad I did! They showed up earlier than expected and worked all day Sunday. Most places would be off on a Sunday but they were able to accommodate and spent an entire day - sun up to sun down. I felt bad but they were determined to get the job done. And the care and delicacy that they took to wrap my items never wavered. Such wonderful wrap and pack and very respectful crew. Highly recommend this moving group.
They had no idea how much stuff I had or where it was going (Even though I explained it on the phone and in emails). I was moving from a 1 bedroom loft with storage area to a small 3 bedroom house. After an hour, they had loaded ONE night stand (which I can carry by myself), and had moved some other boxes in the hallway.
At 9:30am, I called the company to see where the movers were. As a current customer, I was sent to voicemail. When I called back and selected "Get a quote", it rang to a representative and he noted that he just spoke with the drivers and they are in the area circling my block. This was not true, as I had been standing at my intersection since 8:50am waiting on them, with my eyes peeled for a moving truck.
When all was said and done, we spent $1,164 on a move that cost me $375 with another company. Normally, movers are 'Money Well Spent' but I wish we had just done it ourselves.
I previously moved these same items from Raleigh to Wake Forest with a moving company, and it took a total of 3 hours, and cost me $375. When I moved them with a friend last time, it took nearly all day, so I decided to splurge for movers again to save time and keep my energy for unpacking.
Nearly 5 hours went by before the truck was loaded (keep in mind: my last move, which also included two men with the same belongings, was COMPLETED in less than this time - Loading AND Unloading).
I am new to the area, so decided to head to Google Reviews to check out movers for my local move (from Smithfield to Goldsboro). Harvey's was the only moving company that had several reviews and a rating over 4 stars.
Though they arrived about 20 min.'s late, they were super fast and efficient. Very polite and determined to get the job done in a timely manner even on this hot and humid day in early August. Highly recommend these guys!!! They were worth the wait...
